Tubolight Evo HD Mousse
By studying how punctures occur and how mousses interact with the tire and rim, we reposition the material right where it needs to be, above and outside the bead of the rim.
Although the new shape is shallower, the over-the-bead portion of the rim increases by 30-60% depending on the width of the rim, and together with a harder compound, rim bumps are drastically reduced.
The U-shape at the top gives room for more air adjustments, as well as saving weight and therefore allowing for a higher density compound. The super tight fit is retained, because it is an incredible advantage for greater lateral stability and avoiding bead breaking.
Air channel:
The air channel between the mousse and the rim acts as a valve.
During a crash, some of the air molecules inside the tire move from the outside of the tire into the channel, causing a pressure difference.
Since the mousse is too tight on the edge, those molecules get trapped and take a fraction of the time longer to re-establish uniform pressure between the outside and inside.
That means that, in the real world, the rolling resistance and rebound of the tires are reduced.
These two features combined give what every cyclist is looking for: EFFICIENCY. Disadvantages? Yes, there are two minor downsides: whether using standard or mousse specific valves, the release of air is slightly slower due to the difference in pressure between the two air volume portions. In the first installation, we suggest not to put sealant on the valve.
